POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager Research Opportunities plays a pivotal role in fostering the growth and success of public health research within the School of Public Health (SPH). Reporting to the Director Network Research Resources, this position is integral to identifying funding opportunities, managing resources effectively, and cultivating meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The Manager is responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis to identify new research opportunities that will support the SPH’s growth and research engagement. This role will help drive the research mission of SPH by enhancing resource development strategies, supporting research initiatives, and ensuring effective stewardship of relationships to maximize organizational impact and sustainability.

Post-Graduate Experience In Research Development, Fundraising, And Stakeholder Engagement (5 Years), Research Administration (3 Years)

  • Master’s degree in public health, social sciences or business development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in grant management, within a scientific academic or research setting.

Responsibilities
  • Manages a support system to identify research funding opportunities for SPH faculty. Conducts landscape assessments of public health opportunities among foundations, corporations, and agencies that align with faculty research expertise or SPH priorities.
  • Collaborates in developing proposals and prospectuses with SPH researchers to articulate compelling research to external partners. Maintains partnership with internal teams (e.g., researchers, communications) and external partners (funding agencies, academic collaborators, industry partners) to achieve shared research goals.
  • Provides stewardship for external research stakeholders, manages and strengthens relationships with funders, ensuring proper acknowledgement and demonstrating the impact of their contributions through reports and regular communication.
  • Maintains excellent communications with SPH faculty, university advancement, and research development leads. Is the primary liaison in ensuring coordinated efforts that align SPH and university strategic priorities.
  • Contributes to the organization’s strategic public health research goals by assisting in the development of strategies and initiatives that align research activities with the organization’s overall objectives and promote a culture of innovation.
