SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL:

  • Represent National Operations on cross-functional planning teams.
  • Ownership of program design and strategy for Operations programs and tactics.
  • Develop consistent, actionable, and simple communications for stores and operations teams to execute new programs and ongoing initiatives.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance and develop communications for stores and operations, fostering a culture of ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee the management of communication requests and ensure effective distribution of workload assignments.
  • Own and maintain the communications initiative roadmap, including the rollout of communications and initiatives to retail store associates, and manage related timelines and milestones.
  • Uphold and oversee communication standards for all communication from corporate to retail stores; distill complex information into easy-to-understand updates for the teams.Act as the operational liaison with Learning and Development to support learning initiatives, symposiums, demo events, training launches, and conferences.

Responsibilities

The Manager of Retail Communications plays a key role on the operations communications team by supporting Staples’ retail communications strategy. They are a key leader of the Operations team and work directly with the Services, Merchandising, and Field leadership teams in the development and execution of new solutions.
They are responsible for representing the National Operations team and all Retail Associates by providing timely, simple, and clear communication regarding strategic initiatives, new programs, ongoing programming, and tracking. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Retail Services, this position assists in updating and maintaining all retail communication platforms and applications, while partnering with the business to fully capture the strategic vision of the company. They will collaborate closely with teams across Field Leadership, Retail Operations, Learning and Development, Marketing, Finance, and Services to identify opportunities to drive business results, support stores and develop and implement executable selling programs chainwide. Collaboration with additional internal stakeholders such as Merchant Services, Store construction, Business Insights, Internal Communications, Staples Professional, Staples Preferred and Services as required. As a pivotal part of the operations team, the Manager of Retail Communications will lead the communications strategy, lead cross-functional teams, and create tools and resources that support continuous operations improvement.
