Position Summary:   The Safety & Training Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs while owning the coordination and governance of operational training systems. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, ISO9001, AS9100, and company safety policies while promoting a proactive safety culture. The position also supports development of structured, repeatable training processes such as Training Within Industry (TWI) to ensure employees are qualified, capable, and continuously developed to safely perform their work. This role serves as a key enabler of workforce scalability by ensuring safe, standardized, and repeatable development of employee capability as the organization grows.   Key Responsibilities:    Safety Program Development & Management * Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs. * Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. * Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations. * Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels. * Promote hazard recognition, accident prevention, and safe work practices. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations. * Drive continuous improvement initiatives for safety programs and workplace conditions. * Benchmark industry best practices and implements innovative solutions to enhance safety performance. * Serve as a subject matter expert for emergency preparedness, PPE requirements, and safety regulations.   Incident Investigation & Reporting * Lead root-cause investigations of safety incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions. * Develop corrective and preventive action plans to prevent recurrence. * Prepare safety reports and metrics for management review.  Training Systems * Maintain centralized training records and submit completed documentation to Human Resources upon audit completion. * Update Human Resources weekly with scheduled audit dates. * Support completion and submission of forms for revisions to Work Instructions (WI) and Job Instructions * Become a qualified Job Instruction (JI) developer utilizing the Training Within Industry (TWI) format * Ensure alignment between TWI JI’s and existing SOPs and procedures.  * Ensure all documents are controlled through the quality document management process and revisions are updated timely * Support training on the floor utilizing TWI JI’s and audit to ensure process is being utilized by trainers when onboarding new employees. Perform additional duties as required to support operational and strategic objectives. Qualifications:   Education and Experience: * Education: * OSHA SHP Certification * Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.   * Experience: * Minimum 3 years of experience in occupational safety, training coordination, or workforce development, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments. * Other requirements: * This position may require access to ITAR-controlled technical data and services. As such, all applicants must be U.S. persons, as defined by ITAR, to be considered for this role. A U.S. person is a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or individual with protected status under U.S. immigration laws. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will not be considered for the position   Key Skills & Competencies   Safety Leadership & Culture Transformation * Proven track record in leading safety culture transformation initiatives and fostering proactive employee engagement. * Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant safety regulations and standards. * Skilled in driving behavioral-based safety programs, hazard identification, and incident prevention. * Ability to influence and lead safety initiatives across multiple teams, ensuring accountability and measurable results.   Problem Solving & Execution * Advanced problem-solving using Lean principles (5-Why, Cause & Effect Analysis, and Root Cause Identification) * Drives safety projects from identification through implementation and closure. * Process-oriented with ability to optimize workflows, prioritize competing demands, and manage multiple concurrent initiatives.   Business & System Acumen * Strong business awareness; understands operational, financial, and strategic impacts of safety, maintenance, and facility decisions. * Proficient in safety management systems and Microsoft Office tools  * Demonstrates urgency, strong time management, and results-driven execution in a dynamic production environment.   Leadership & Interpersonal Skills * Clear and adaptable communication across all organizational levels, with the ability to influence behavior and decision-making. * Effective at coaching, conflict resolution, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to drive safety improvements. * High integrity, inclusive mindset, team-oriented, and maintain confidentiality. * Energetic, accountable, and demonstrates a strong “can-do” attitude in leading teams, driving safety culture, and continuous improvement.   Work Environment and Physical Demands * Works in production, shop floor, and office environments. * Some overnight travel may be required for vendors, sites, or training visits. * Ability to work extended hours as needed to support production, maintenance, or facility objectives. * Approximately 30% sitting, 60% standing/walking, and 10% bending, stooping, or climbing to access equipment and facilities. * Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally; heavier lifting with assistance or appropriate equipment. * Manual dexterity sufficient to handle tools, components, maintenance equipment, and measurement devices. * Near visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected) for inspecting equipment, facility systems, and reading technical/engineering documents. * Ability to hear, speak, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment. * Exposure to shop floor and maintenance environments; proper use of PPE required. * Fluency in English required; additional language skills a plus.     Supervision Provided:  No direct reports     How This Position Contributes to the Effectiveness of the Quality Management System This role is responsible for ensuring that safety practices and programs support safe, compliant, and efficient production operations.
