POSITION SUMMARY DEFINITION Under direction, to manage security department; plan, organize and direct Physicians for Healthy Hospitals, Inc. security program; direct and supervise parking facilities, assist in planning, developing and directing activities related to safety, fire protection, accident prevention and investigation and disaster preparedness. Insure compliance with all Federal and State licensing and accrediting agencies. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is the journey level class. Position in this class is distinguished from the Security Officer by having the more demanding technical and analytical assignments requiring analysis, research, tactical command experience and sensitivity as well as independent performance. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be: Education: Post high school vocation with specialized training. Possession of Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred in law enforcement, public safety or related field. Experience: Four (4) to five (5) years of experience in law enforcement or security contract agency in which two (2) years are in management or supervisor level at hospital/care environment. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of Physicians for Healthy Hospitals, Inc. Must be certified as Train the Trainer in Management of Aggressive Behavior with the ability to teach & certify others. KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Knowledge of: Hospital specific issues for compliance, patient rights, etc. Security systems, procedures and enforcement codes. Principles and practices of personnel administration, organization, and management.     Modern office methods and procedures     Public Safety Ability to: Collect data, analyze it objectively, present it clearly, and prepare sound recommendations and reports Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures. Secure cooperation of department heads in accepting and carrying out sound security management practices. Keep abreast of developments in the field of security administration. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Participate in Professional Assault Response Training Participate in the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
