[What the role is] As a tax professional, you have tax knowledge at your fingertips and the heart to build a socially responsible taxpaying community. You will apply your resourcefulness, strong communication skills and expertise in administering a suite of tax services ranging from service, compliance and policy formulation. The result? [What you will be working on] - Ensure manual/backend assessment of returns are accurately completed and on time by examining and finalising the assessments cases; exercising the knowledge of the account and applying guidelines, tax legislation to identify incorrect treatments of tax-deductible expenses, chargeable income etc; and contacting external parties to clarify the information in the return or gather extra information where necessary - Conduct targeted education programs or visits for selected industry groups to enhance voluntary compliance - Ensure risk areas of respective industry groups are managed in an effective and efficient manner - Carry out compliance program case selection to improve voluntary compliance - Plan compliance program case reviews [What we are looking for] - Background in Accountancy, Business Administration or Economics with at least 5 years of experience handling corporate tax work - Practical experience in tax assessment functions e.g. Income Tax or Corporate Tax and accounting - Good knowledge of corporate income tax laws and practices - Knowledge of principals of accounting, tax and company law - Knowledge of the audit process, audit methodologies available, consequences of the different types of audit determinations etc - Preferably have basic GST knowledge - Strong ability to question and probe - Meticulous and analytical - Good verbal, written communication skills and negotiation skills - Resourceful and able to work independently in a team environment - Organised and systematic in handling information and data http://jobs.careers.gov.sg The Singapore Public Service plays a key role in the economic growth, progress and stability of Singapore by formulating and implementing government policies, as well as providing key public services.
