AppDirect is looking for a Manager, Software Development to lead our Core Billing Team in Montreal. You will play a critical role in guiding a team of talented engineers, driving technical excellence, and shaping Billing’s product direction. You’ll help your team of Senior career engineers navigate shifting priorities with clarity and confidence, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, support and mentor a team made up of experienced Full Stack Developers. You will own performance management for your team (i.e. objectives setting, performance reviews and career development) as well as recruitment and overall team management;
  • Coach engineers by reviewing technical designs and code, conducting technical talks, and advocating for best practices;
  • Guide the team in the design, implementation, observability and support of an ecosystem of fault-tolerant services to minimize customer impact in case of failures;
  • Be a quality, performance and security evangelist to your team;
  • Understand the system from end to end to help the team make tradeoff decisions;
  • Partner with the Product Manager, Designer, and other Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to collaborate and build the best billing experience anywhere;
  • Communicate clearly any risks and provide resolution or mitigation plans;
  • Act as a sounding board and motivator for individual creativity on technical challenges, process efficiencies and everything in between;
  • Stay hands-on with the team by contributing to non-critical path code improvements and maintaining a deep understanding of the platform’s technical landscape.
