1Password is growing. We’ve surpassed $400M in ARR and we’re continuing to accelerate, earning a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four years in a row and teaming up with iconic partners like Oracle Red Bull Racing.

About 1Password

At 1Password, we’re building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today. As one of the most loved brands in cybersecurity, we take a human-centric approach in everything from product strategy to user experience. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.

If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

As the Manager, Solutions Engineering, you’ll lead a team supporting commercial customers and channel-led opportunities across North America. You’ll help customers solve complex identity and security challenges by guiding technical discovery, shaping solutions, and partnering with Sales throughout the buying process.

You’ll work closely with Sales, Channel, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering to deliver thoughtful customer experiences and strengthen 1Password’s position as a trusted security partner. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales Engineering, this role is open to candidates based in the United States or Canada.

How we’re using AI today

Across GTM, we’re transforming the way we work with AI. We expect every seller, CSM, and team member to become a power user, using it daily to work smarter and move faster. AI is already embedded in how we operate – from real-time coaching that sharpens how we sell and interact with customers, to surfacing insights that help us anticipate needs – creating more time for meaningful customer engagement. If you’re excited to reshape how you think, make decisions, and drive growth with AI, you’ll feel right at home here. To us, this means we do ask that you join live interviews without using AI tools so we can get to know how you communicate, solve problems, and collaborate with others.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto.

What we're looking for:

  • Background in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a related customer-facing technical consulting role supporting complex, consultative sales cycles
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams, with the ability to coach technical storytelling, executive communication, objection handling, and business value alignment
  • Strong channel experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Value-Added Resellers (VARs), distributors, and technology alliance partners
  • Technical foundation in identity and security technologies, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), authentication, cloud platforms, and Software as a Service (SaaS) integrations
  • Familiarity with the Metrics, Economic Buyer, Decision Criteria, Decision Process, Paper Process, Identify Pain, Champion, and Competition (MEDDPICC) qualification framework or a similar enterprise sales methodology
  • Practical experience using Large Language Models (LLMs), AI copilots, and automation to improve technical research, customer preparation, solution development, and team productivity
  • Experience with application programming interfaces (APIs), scripting, automation platforms, or identity security platforms

Experience:

  • Strong technical foundation across identity security, cloud platforms, SaaS integrations, authentication, and adjacent security technologies
  • Track record of leading change, especially transitioning a Solutions Engineering team from a hybrid model into a focused, enterprise-grade pre-sales organization
  • Proven ability to partner with AEs throughout complex, consultative sales cycles, using MEDDPICC to advance technical strategy and remove blockers
  • Experience leading and developing Solutions Engineering teams, with a clear commitment to people management and talent growth
  • Background in a channel-forward go-to-market motion, including MSPs, VARs, two-tier distribution, and strategic partners

Competencies:

  • Influence and communication: builds credibility with customers, partners, Sales, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Judgment and prioritization: balances technical depth, customer needs, deal strategy, and team capacity
  • Change leadership: creates clarity and momentum when goals, processes, or team responsibilities are evolving
  • Coaching and accountability: develops talent, gives direct feedback, and sets a high bar for execution

What you can expect:

  • Lead and support a team of Solutions Engineers across commercial and channel-led customer engagements
  • Establish consistent approaches to discovery, solution design, demonstrations, proofs of concept (POCs), and technical validation
  • Partner with Sales to shape account strategy, identify technical risks, and advance opportunities toward a technical win
  • Build strong relationships with channel partners and support joint customer engagements
  • Coach team members through complex customer conversations while supporting their growth and development
  • Use customer feedback, pipeline health, and engagement metrics to improve team execution and standardize useful technical assets
  • Champion practical, responsible use of AI and automation while collaborating with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering to bring customer insights into the business

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $131,000 USD and $190,000 USD, and is commission-eligible. This role is also eligible for immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
