Key Responsibilities
Import & Inbound Operations
- Manage the end-to-end import and inbound logistics process from origin to UAE warehouse.
- Oversee international shipments by air, sea and road, ensuring timely delivery in line with business requirements.
- Coordinate shipment planning and execution with suppliers, factories, freight forwarders, shipping lines and customs brokers.
- Monitor shipment status, transit times, delays and delivery schedules, proactively resolving operational issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all import and shipping documentation.
- Coordinate with warehouses to ensure smooth receiving, inspection and put-away of inbound shipments.
Customs & Compliance
- Oversee UAE customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations and company procedures.
- Manage relationships with customs brokers and logistics service providers.
- Ensure correct classification, documentation, valuation and customs declarations for imported goods.
- Monitor customs duties, taxes, clearance costs and related charges.
- Resolve customs-related discrepancies, holds and documentation issues efficiently.
Supply Chain Coordination
- Work closely with merchandising, sales, finance, warehouse and other stakeholders to align inbound shipments with business priorities.
- Develop and maintain inbound shipment schedules and provide regular visibility on expected arrivals.
- Coordinate priority shipments and manage urgent deliveries where required.
- Ensure shipment planning supports product launches, seasonal collections and commercial deadlines.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
Cost & Vendor Management
- Monitor and control import and inbound logistics costs.
- Review freight, customs, clearance, handling and other logistics charges for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Manage relationships and performance of freight forwarders, customs brokers and other logistics partners.
- Negotiate rates and service agreements where required.
- Track logistics KPIs and identify opportunities for cost optimisation and process improvement.
Team Management & Process Improvement
- Lead, manage and develop the import and inbound logistics team.
- Establish clear processes, responsibilities and performance standards.
- Monitor team performance and ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Implement appropriate systems, reporting and controls to improve shipment visibility and operational accuracy.
