Within Retail Banking Services, our Home Buying business plays a critical role in helping Australians achieve one of life’s biggest milestones — owning a home. We’re looking for a Manager, Strategic Governance to support governance, assurance and risk initiatives across our third‑party mortgage broker channel, helping ensure safe, compliant and customer‑centric outcomes. About the role In this role, you’ll support the delivery of governance and assurance activities that underpin how CommBank engages with third‑party mortgage brokers. Working closely with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners, you’ll contribute analysis, reporting and execution support to key governance initiatives, assurance programs and regulatory change activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in governance, risk, compliance or assurance who is looking to further develop their capability in a complex, regulated financial services environment. Key responsibilities Governance & strategic initiatives Support governance and assurance initiatives across the broker lifecycle through data collection, analysis and research Execute defined workstreams under senior guidance to address issues, risks or performance gaps Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across governance processes, data quality and reporting Assurance & control support Support broker assurance activities, including reviews, findings management and follow‑up actions Assist in assessing the effectiveness of governance and control arrangements operated by third‑party distributors Help maintain and uplift governance frameworks, documentation, registers and assurance artefacts Regulatory change & engagement Support impact assessments for legislative and regulatory changes affecting the broker channel Assist with obligations mapping, control documentation and updates to governance artefacts Contribute to the preparation of written responses for regulators or internal stakeholders Support the drafting of governance papers and materials for senior leadership forums Stakeholder collaboration Partner with internal teams including Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology Support engagement with external service providers where required Share knowledge and promote consistent governance practices across the team What you’ll bring Experience in governance, risk, compliance or assurance within a regulated environment (financial services preferred) Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesise complex information Clear and confident written communication skills, including report and paper preparation A structured, detail‑oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities A collaborative mindset and confidence working with a range of stakeholders Typically 2–3 years’ relevant experience If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application.
