POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Manager of Student Admissions for Orientation Programs at the University of Louisville plays a vital leadership role within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, overseeing the planning and execution of new student orientation initiatives, in collaboration with the Associate Director for Orientation Programs. This position provides direct supervision to one full-time staff member and one graduate assistant and offers high-level guidance for a team of approximately 30 undergraduate student leaders. The Manager leads the coordination of all logistical elements of freshman, transfer, and family orientation sessions, as well as extended orientation (Cards Camp), including room reservations, presenter coordination, and event execution. In addition, the role manages the development of virtual orientation modules, assessment efforts, and key publications like the Freshman Orientation Guide. This individual serves as a key collaborator with campus partners and contributes to large-scale admissions events and committee work, ensuring a seamless and impactful orientation experience for all incoming students. The person in this position will work traditional business hours, extended hours during the summer, some nights and weekends, and will require some overnight travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general leadership and guidance to the Orientation Programs team, situated in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, including serving as the direct supervisor to one full-time staff member and one graduate assistant.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the graduate assistant in their supervision of the Student Orientation Staff and Cards Camp Counselors, including recruitment, interviews, training and staff development. In this capacity the Assistant Director will provide high level leadership for approximately 30 undergraduate student leaders.
- Secure room reservations for all orientation programs, including freshman, family and transfer orientation.
- Coordinate logistical aspects of each orientation program and communicate with presenters and other campus partners who participate in any capacity of orientation programming.
- Coordinate with campus partners to collect content for and create virtual orientation modules.
- Coordinate logistical aspects of Cards Camp (extended orientation) including securing event sites, room reservations, and coordination with on-campus partners.
- Create and facilitate assessments and generate assessment reports for all orientation programs.
- Coordinate publication of the Freshman Orientation Guide, including communication with campus partners to elicit departmental content submissions and creation of internal content.
- Provide planning and day-of-show support for all undergraduate student orientation programs, including freshman orientation, transfer & adult orientation and family orientation.
- Assist at large admissions events and provide other back-up support to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as needed.
- Serve on the admissions review and appeals committee.

- Master’s degree or progress in a student affairs/higher education field of study preferred
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
