PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field
  • Previous experience working in recreational or youth program development, student affairs, residential life, or a related area, preferably in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of staff and students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to create and maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, counseling techniques, and best practices in student support services.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule that includes evenings and weekends, including participating in on-call rotations for emergencies.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and a valid driver’s license are required (Class 4 license is preferred).
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $29.00-$33.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities

With these things in mind, the following roles and responsibilities are expected of the Student Residence Manager:
Leadership & Team Management Be an inspiring, collaborative leader who motivates and supports a diverse team across Student Life operations. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to residential and student services staff. Foster a positive team culture, encourage professional growth, and work cross-functionally to ensure a seamless student experience.
Student Engagement & Programming Design and lead dynamic extracurricular programs and outdoor excursions that promote connection, wellness, and school spirit. Collaborate with staff and students to deliver high-quality recreational, cultural, and educational experiences that align with student interests.
Residential Life Oversee the boarding program to ensure a safe, inclusive, and structured environment. Manage scheduling, student conduct, residence operations, off-campus activities, guest stays, and health-related logistics. Ensure boarding life is fully integrated with academic and co-curricular programming.
Student Support & Advocacy Serve as a trusted mentor and advocate for students. Partner with counselors, advisors, and wellness staff to support students’ academic, emotional, and social development through proactive and compassionate care.
Community Building & Outreach Foster strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the wider community. Act as a key liaison between students and administration, and build partnerships that enhance student engagement and volunteer opportunities.
Crisis Management & Emergency Response Lead emergency planning, training, and response efforts. Ensure all staff are equipped to handle crises with confidence and care.
Administration, Travel & Budget Management Manage student travel logistics and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Oversee departmental budgeting with a focus on cost-effectiveness and impact. Use creative problem-solving to optimize resources, streamline operations, and enhance the student experience.
