Our client LAW FIRM has an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced Manager of Legal Talent and Development. Manager of Legal Talent and Development will oversee the firm’s attorney talent development structure, including professional development and recruitment, for both Partner and non-Partner level hiring.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet current and future needs of the firm, including the development and implementation of an effective mentorship program.
  • Responsible, in conjunction with practice group leaders for overall recruitment and professional development for attorneys, including training and development programs to enhance attorney skills.
  • Participate in strategic planning and, in conjunction with the firm’s executive committee and Partners to oversee implementation of lateral attorney and law student recruitment and summer programs.
  • Interact with practice group leaders to identify current and future staffing needs and initiate lateral attorney searches where appropriate.
  • Assist management and implement strategies regarding key talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies.
  • Provide guidance and input in the area of associate compensation and benefits relative to various markets where the firm is located.
  • Coordinate and implement regular attorney review process.
  • Develop strategy for achievement of attorney practice group benchmarks and monitor implementation and fulfilment of strategy.
  • Define, track, and report success metrics.
  • Assist the COO and associate liaisons with setting salaries and bonuses for associates.

A MINIMUM OF SEVEN (7) YEARS IN LEGAL HIRING, WITH MEASURABLE ADVANCEMENT IN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; JD preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous law firm hiring experience.
  • Outstanding analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic with comprehensive knowledge of complex business principles and practices in order to conduct detailed analyses of business operations.
  • High degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment and decision-making while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to function in stressful situations and think strategically and analytically to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex business administration-related issues and problems and to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to form advisory relationships with firm leadership and serve as a catalyst for creative thinking and the implementation of new ideas.
  • A strong client-service orientation, and the ability to be self-directed, resilient, and proactive.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, and to delegate and manage resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of human resource management and talent development with an ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Supervisory/managerial skills necessary to interact and communicate with subordinates, provide instruction/direction, determine work priorities, and coordinate the activities of a work team.
  • Ability and availability to travel to other firm locations as needed.
