About the role
The Manager of Tax Advisory is responsible for delivering high-quality taxation advisory services to a portfolio of privately owned businesses, family groups and high-net-worth clients. The role combines technical tax expertise, client relationship management, project delivery and team leadership to support clients with complex taxation, structuring and compliance matters.
The Manager works with Directors to provide commercially focused advice, manage key client engagements and mentor junior team members.
What you'll be doing
Technical Tax Advisory
Research, analyse and provide advice on Australian taxation matters, including:
- Income tax
- Restructures and rollovers
- Tax Consolidation
- Employee Share Schemes
- Capital gains tax
- Small business concessions
- Trust taxation
- Division 7A
Client Relationship Management
- Prepare technical advice papers, memoranda and client reports.
- Assist with complex restructures, business acquisitions and disposals.
- Review legislation, ATO guidance and relevant case law to support technical advice.
- Identify tax risks and develop practical recommendations for clients.
- Present advice and recommendations in a clear and commercial manner.
- Prepare fee estimates, proposals and engagement documentation.
- Support Directors in business development activities.
Project Management
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Monitor project budgets, deadlines and profitability.
- Ensure work is completed to the firm's quality and risk management standards.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure advice is technically accurate and appropriately documented.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of tax legislation and regulatory developments.
- Adhere to firm risk management, compliance and quality control procedures.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of tax governance frameworks where required.
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualified
- 4-6 years' experience in public practice taxation and advisory.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience preparing complex technical tax advice.
- Exposure to business restructures and transaction advisory.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Business development and client management experience.
