This role requires an expert-level understanding of Mexican GAAP and taxation, with the ability to provide strategic guidance, make independent decisions, and serve as the primary liaison with local authorities and external accounting/tax advisors. The individual will manage tax reporting, compliance, reconciliations, and financial controls with minimal supervision while ensuring alignment with corporate standards. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure full compliance with Mexican tax laws (SAT, IMSS, Infonavit, 3% Payroll Tax, and other state/federal obligations). * Supervise monthly and annual tax filings, payments, and reconciliations with precision and timeliness. * Monitor fiscal mailbox (SAT) to address notifications, audits, or requirements from tax authorities. * Maintain validity of the company’s and legal representative’s digital tax certificates (FIEL/e.firma) and manage renewals. * Resolve discrepancies with tax authorities and manage communications with external auditors and fiscal advisors.Oversee compliance with Mexican GAAP and alignment with group accounting policies. * Deliver accurate and timely financial reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting packages to corporate headquarters. * Supervise integration of intercompany transactions, including invoicing, reconciliations, and tax documentation. * Review and reconcile SENAM payments and ASA files to ensure accuracy of CRE reporting. * Ensure accounting records reflect all local tax and labor obligations accurately. * Serve as a subject matter expert in Mexican taxation and accounting, advising management on risks, opportunities, and optimal tax strategies. * Provide guidance on structuring operations to achieve efficiency while remaining compliant. * Collaborate with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams on process improvements and system implementations. * Supervise, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Required Skills & Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * Public Accountant (Contador Público Certificado) or equivalent certification required. * Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in Mexican taxation and financial accounting. * Strong command of Mexican GAAP, tax laws, labor obligations, and reporting requirements. * Proven ability to interact with SAT and other Mexican authorities, manage audits, and resolve tax issues independently. * Experience in ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel. * Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish; strong business English proficiency. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in a multinational environment with intercompany accounting and transfer pricing. * Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP reporting requirements. * Experience leading teams and managing external tax advisors.
