POSITION OVERVIEW:

Manager, Technical Accounting will report to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting. They are responsible for proactively remaining abreast of all U.S. GAAP and SEC developments relevant to the Company’s business and financial reporting. The Manager, Technical Accounting, will play a role in improving and maintaining the Company’s SOX control framework. In addition, the role serves as the subject matter expert on accounting guidance, standards, and reporting requirements for the Company.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX.
  • Ensure the relationships lead to support for overall Company, business, function, and departmental goals.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience, of which 3 years should be in public accounting or a technical role.
Responsibilities
  • Review transaction documents, research accounting guidance and write technical accounting memos that analyze and interpret guidance to determine the proper accounting treatment for significant and/or unusual transactions.
  • Support the Financial Reporting team’s preparation of SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and related earnings materials. This will include preparation of footnote disclosures, quarterly financial statement analytics, disclosure checklists, XBRL tagging, among other things
  • Assess the impact of new U.S. GAAP and SEC pronouncements and ensure compliance with the relevant financial reporting standards.
  • Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements as well as to prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in improving and maintaining a robust control environment that is SOX compliant.
  • Provide direction and guidance to the accounting organization to ensure all activities are recorded and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Serve as a liaison with external auditors during the implementation process of new standards and in the execution of the audits specific to technical accounting matters.
  • Assist in the adoption and implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Participate in or lead special projects related to technical accounting matters, including mergers and acquisitions, for the organization.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional and collaborative relationships with colleagues across Accounting and Finance, Operational Departments, Legal, and others.
  • Ensure the relationships lead to support for overall Company, business, function, and departmental goals.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and footnotes, as requested.
  • Provide support to Operational Departments and ad-hoc requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.
