The mission of the Manger, Technical Design at Cozey Reporting to Evan Clabots, Vice-President, Product Development & Innovation, we’re looking for a highly organized and detail-driven Manager of Technical Design to lead and manage Cozey’s growing technical design operations. This role is responsible for driving timelines, ensuring accuracy across all technical deliverables, and maintaining exceptional standards in every stage of product development, from concept through production hand-off. As a leader of the Product Development team, you will own the technical execution of design, overseeing tech pack accuracy, sample review cycles, and the overall workflow of the design team. You’ll ensure that our creative vision is translated into clear, manufacturable solutions, on time and on brief. What you'll be doing Lead and manage the technical design team (2+ designers), ensuring project timelines, deliverables, and priorities are clear and met. Drive the product development calendar for all technical design milestones, guaranteeing all deadlines for sample comments, revisions, and tech pack submissions are achieved. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all technical documentation and design files before hand-off to sourcing and manufacturing teams. Review prototypes, test builds, and factory samples for fit, accuracy, and manufacturability, ensuring all feedback is captured and communicated promptly. Oversee updates and version control of tech packs, CADs, and supporting documents throughout the development cycle. Implement and enforce technical standards that ensure clarity, efficiency, and precision across all product lines. Coach and mentor junior designers, fostering accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Sourcing, and Testing teams to ensure flawless product execution. Identify and optimize design processes, improving the speed and quality of information flow between design and development. Champion attention to detail and accountability across all deliverables — ensuring Cozey’s technical documentation reflects the same excellence as our products. We'd love to hear from you if you have 8+ years of professional technical design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent. Experience in the furniture industry is required. Proven track record of managing multiple projects and design teams in a fast-paced environment. Expert-level understanding of tech pack creation, revision control, and sample evaluation. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong project management and time management skills. Proficiency in SolidWorks and Adobe Creative Suite. Deep knowledge of materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes. Collaborative, organized, and solutions-oriented leadership style.
