PURPOSE & IMPACT

Help shape the accounting standards that organizations across Canada use.
As Manager, Technical Research, you’ll work on evidence-based insights that directly inform decisions by the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB), advancing high‑quality reporting standards in the public interest.
Partnering closely with Principals, you will work on high‑impact research projects and help deliver the information and insights needed for standard setting. The role offers clear growth into building advanced technical expertise, taking ownership of projects, and gaining visibility with senior decision‑makers. Ideal for an early-career CPA who want to build research and analysis depth in standard setting.
The targeted annual salary range for this position is $82,200 to $95,870 and is commensurate with experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Conduct research on emerging accounting issues; summarize literature, practices, and external input to shape options and recommendations for the Board/Committees;
  • Explore projects beyond accounting, with exposure to public sector, sustainability, and assurance matters.
  • Plan and support outreach (e.g., virtual roundtables), summarize insights, and track follow‑ups to keep projects moving.
  • Frame technical issues and options, assess implications, and draft recommendations that support Boards/Committee decision‑making.
  • Draft briefing documents that enable timely, high‑quality decisions by Boards/Committees.
  • Analyze consultation feedback (qualitative and quantitative), extract themes, and translate insights into recommendations.
  • Create clear communications, such as presentations, web content, and summaries, to share developments.
  • Maintain project plans and trackers to report progress, risks and decisions.
