COMPANY DESCRIPTION
We’re Checkout.com – you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen.
Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.
With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere – but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they’re fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day. Ideal. Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Part 1: The role
As our value increases, so does our need for extraordinary people. As the Manager, Technical Writing, you will support and mentor a small team of talented Technical Writers, empowering them to deliver clear, consistent and high-quality technical documentation that enables the next generation of financial products and online payment solutions.
You’ll be instrumental in shaping the documentation strategy for your team’s scope, ensuring alignment with overall product and domain strategy. You’ll foster an environment where technical documentation constantly advocates for our users’ success, across platforms such as Checkout.com Documentation, our Merchant Support site and our API reference. You’ll use AI and automation to improve processes and drive our focus on quality.
You’ll collaborate closely with team members of varying seniority across disciplines, including Design, Product and Engineering, while also representing your team in various cross-functional initiatives.
Part 2: What we’re looking for
You’re an empathetic leader with a strong background in technical writing, ideally within a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business. You have a proven track record of managing and mentoring technical writing professionals, and you excel at creating concise and well-written technical product documentation, merchant-facing support articles, and API references. You are passionate about technology and the pivotal role that well-written documentation plays in facilitating successful product integrations. You are adept at navigating Agile workflows, advocating for Docs-as-Code processes, and are confident with GitHub and static site generators. Familiarity with REST APIs is essential and familiarity with OpenAPI (OAS) specification is preferred. You are invested in exploring and utilising artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to structure content and leverage it in our workflows and processes.
