Description
Role Summary Leads the Technical Center’s Validation & Test Laboratory across multiple sites, ensuring safe, on-time, and high‑quality execution of bench tests for steering and driveline systems. Owns test process definition and continuous improvement, KPI definition and governance, lab scheduling and capacity management, and coordination with other JTEKT labs globally. Key Responsibilities Process Ownership: Define/maintain test lab processes (request intake, prioritization, setup, execution, data/reporting, records…). KPI Definition & Governance: Establish lab KPIs (e.g. test completion throughput/cycle time); publish dashboards; lead corrective actions. Safety, Equipment & Compliance: Enforce lab safety; manage equipment readiness and calibration schedules; maintain audit‑ready records. Scheduling & Capacity: Plan resources, benches, fixtures, and chambers; manage a distributed, multi‑state team (1 location in Michigan, 2 in Tennessee). Cross‑Functional Support: Partner with Applications, Product, Systems/Electrical, Prototype, and Engineering Planning for test readiness, capital and labor force planning. Global/Test Network Coordination: Align methods and hand‑offs with Japan technical centers and sister labs; support cross‑site testing when required. People: ensure employees are performing at the peak of their abilities supported by proper tools and processes. Skills & Experience Hands‑on knowledge of automotive validation (DV/PV/Production) Experience interpreting OEM test specs and aligning with ISO/IEC 17025 as well as IATF standards. Proven KPI design/governance and process management; strong data and quality mindset. Leadership of lab teams and multi‑site operations; excellent communication skills. 7+ years in test/validation with 3+ years leading a lab or validation team. Chassis / safety critical components experience preferred. Tools & Systems Measurement and data acquisition tools; test method documentation; lab scheduling and asset tracking tools; Microsoft 365/SharePoint/Teams. Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
