Summary / Primary Role: The Manager, Truckload Procurement supports the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of truckload procurement activities across Odyssey’s business units. This role is responsible for running procurement events, executing sourcing strategies, supporting carrier engagement, monitoring performance, and providing market insights to internal stakeholders. Working under the guidance of the Director, the Manager, Truckload Procurement helps streamline end‑to‑end truckload sourcing processes to ensure responsiveness to market conditions while delivering competitive cost, consistent service, and operational reliability. Procurement Execution & Strategy Execute truckload, flatbed, and intermodal procurement strategies developed in partnership with the Director. Lead mid‑size and support large‑scale truckload sourcing events across Odyssey’s businesses. Develop network‑based transportation solutions that deliver cost competitiveness and meet service requirements. Conduct detailed bid analysis, optimize routing guides, and recommend award scenarios. Carrier Management & Market Insight Build and maintain strong working relationships with key Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) across all levels. Support the Director in managing strategic carrier relationships and ensuring adherence to performance expectations. Monitor carrier KPIs (OTD, acceptance, cost, compliance) and recommend corrective actions when performance falls below targets. Track market trends and provide relevant insights to internal teams to support pricing, planning, and budget processes. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with business unit procurement and operations teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with cost and service goals. Support customer‑facing discussions by providing procurement and market perspectives as needed. Collaborate with Master Data teams to ensure accurate routing data setup and maintenance. Process Improvement & Governance Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, enhance visibility, and improve carrier engagement. Contribute to strategies for managing the long‑tail carrier base to reduce risk and improve performance. Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies, procedures, and corporate governance standards. Operational Responsibilities Assist in negotiations for contracts and service agreements under the guidance of the Director. Serve as a point of escalation for carrier performance issues within the truckload procurement function. Prepare reporting, analysis, and summaries to support executive decision‑making. Perform all other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications and Key Skills: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. An advanced degree in business administration is preferred. 5+ years of logistics or supply chain experience 3+ years of transportation-related procurement experience (sourcing, contracting, category, and supplier management). Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple RFP events and projects concurrently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
