Job Description Role Overview The Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) provides strategic leadership, direction, and overall management of the company’s operations. The role is responsible for ensuring sustainable business growth, operational excellence, and full regulatory compliance within the industrial gas sector. The MD/CEO drives profitability, strengthens stakeholder confidence, and delivers long-term value to shareholders. Core Responsibilities Develop, communicate, and execute the company’s vision, mission, and long-term strategic objectives. Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including market expansion, new product development, and diversification. Provide leadership and mentorship to the Executive Management Team, fostering a high-performance culture anchored on innovation, accountability, and integrity. Represent the company at industry associations, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholder forums to enhance corporate visibility and influence. Oversee the company’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and optimal resource allocation. Provide executive oversight for core operations production, distribution, and quality assurance of industrial and medical gases. Drive efficiency, profitability, and return on investment through effective cost management and process optimization. Ensure robust risk management practices are in place to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks. Oversee major investments, partnerships, and capital expenditure projects to support strategic objectives. Ensure strict adherence to all statutory, environmental, health, and safety standards governing the production and distribution of gases. Maintain proactive engagement with regulators such as ISO, SON, NAFDAC, and HSE authorities. Qualifications Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience, including at least 10 years in senior executive or leadership roles within the industrial gases, manufacturing, or energy sectors. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline. MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable. Strong professional network within Oil & Gas, FMCG, Energy, Chemical & Allied Manufacturing, or regulatory sectors will be an advantage. Deep understanding of gas production processes, plant operations, quality control, and safety standards. Demonstrated knowledge of ISO standards, regulatory compliance, and HSE management systems. Ability to travel locally and internationally for business engagements. Strong financial and business acumen with proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
