DEFINITION
The City of Stockton is seeking a high energy, business-minded, customer service warrior to fill the newly vacated role of Managing Director of Events and Parking. This is a highly visible position in the community; responsible for quality-of-life, City-owned assets ranging from the 12,000 seat Adventist Health Arena to the regionally treasured Pixie Woods children’s play park; with marinas, citywide parking operations, and a historical theater also in the mix. Under direction of the Director of Economic Development, the Managing Director of Events and Parking plans, organizes, and directs citywide Parking, Event Venues, Special Events and Marina/Boat Launch enterprise operations. Responsibilities include development, implementation, and oversight of parking, marine and event facilities, policies, contracts/leases, services and resources; provides guidance and assignments to personnel to ensure department objectives are accomplished; meets and works with a wide variety of businesses, organizations, officials, and individuals, both public and private; and performs a variety of professional duties managing the division in the Economic Development Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in urban or regional planning, finance, real estate financing and development, public administration, business administration, political science, economics, event/venue management or a closely related field and five (5) years of management or supervisory experience of which has included responsibility for managing a city division or program. Venue/Crowd Management and/or Marine Operation Certification is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to attend meetings outside of normal working hours.
Knowledge of:
Emergency preparedness principles relating to mass gatherings and traffic management;
