Managing Director (m/f/d) – Finance & Operations
Your tasks:
Together with the strategically, personnel-wise, and organizationally focused management team, you will bear overall responsibility for PFLEGEN & WOHNEN HAMBURG. Your responsibilities will focus on finance, operations, and the economic and operational management of the 14 care facilities and central service areas.
As the company's business conscience, you will be responsible for accounting, including resident billing, accounts receivable and payable, receivables management, controlling, and reporting. You will create transparency, further develop planning, forecasting, and performance management, and prepare complex issues for the supervisory board and shareholders in a well-founded, solution-oriented, and decision-focused manner.
They consistently link finance with operations and, together with the facility managers, control the profitability, occupancy, and performance of the 14 locations. Furthermore, they are responsible for purchasing and procurement, including tenders, central services, IT, building management, and catering, and develop these areas efficiently and sustainably.
You understand public ownership as a special governance framework. You establish a reporting system tailored to the target audience, ensure sound decision-making documents, and communicate opportunities, risks, and necessary actions early and transparently.
They maintain a trusting partnership with shareholders, the supervisory board, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce (HGV), the social services authority, and other public partners. In doing so, they combine sound business acumen with an understanding of the company's mandate to provide care and represent PFLEGEN & WOHNEN confidently within its ecosystem and the Hamburg municipal economy.
Your qualifications:
You hold a university degree – preferably in business administration, health economics, or a comparable field – and possess several years of management experience in a prominent commercial and/or operational role within larger organizations. Ideally, you have firsthand experience in the healthcare, social services, or social care sector. We are also interested in candidates from hospitals, municipal companies, or other decentralized, labor-intensive service organizations, provided they possess a solid understanding of finance, operations, and the management of site-specific service delivery.
You have in-depth expertise in accounting and financial reporting, controlling, planning and forecasting, liquidity and investment management, and reporting. Knowledge of professional procurement and contracting structures, as well as experience in IT, service, or facility management, are advantageous. You are adept at translating data into sound business decisions.
Personally, you impress with your analytical skills, decisiveness, political acumen, and a modern leadership approach. They enjoy working in a collaborative, two-person management team, sharing knowledge and information, fostering transparency, and providing clear guidance and appropriate autonomy to the facilities and managers. We are seeking a confident and resilient, yet inclusive individual: present, hands-on, and down-to-earth, without losing sight of strategic vision. They possess a keen understanding of social and political issues, communicate complex economic matters clearly, and build trust through reliability and timely communication.
