Position Overview
The Managing Director, Impact (MDI) is responsible for deepening the impact of the service model, while also managing district and school relationships. The MDI ensures that our program delivers high quality Whole School, Whole Child (WSWC) services and develops AmeriCorps members’ leadership skills to help drive student and school achievement.
Job Description
City Year Orlando is seeking a Managing Director, Impact (MDI) who will lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the high-quality support City Year AmeriCorps members (ACMs) provide to the students of the designated Orlando school partnerships. The MDI provides oversight for the implementation of City Year’s Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) model through the supervision, coaching, and development of Impact Directors who oversee a portfolio of school partnerships and the Learning and Development Director who oversees the scope and sequence of learning for AmeriCorps Members (ACMs) during their ten-month term of service. The MDI reports to the Vice President and Executive Director.
The MDI is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and serves as the leader of the Impact, Learning & Development, ACM Experience, and Evaluation work-streams. This includes leadership and oversight of Impact staff, AmeriCorps members, relationships with existing school partners, as well as relationships with the school district and community partners. The MDI and their leadership team will collaborate with school and community leaders, and the national City Year Impact team to cultivate affirming and equitable learning environments where students will flourish and thrive.

Team Leadership and Development
Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership team, representing the successes and needs of the Impact, Learning & Development and Evaluation work-streams, collaborating with peers to establish site priorities and policies, and advising the Vice President and Executive Director on matters of service impact and educational partnerships.
Develop and lead staff in accordance with a goals-focused and people-oriented department vision. Inspire and motivate teams to provide excellent service and work.
Strategic Partner Relationships
In collaboration with City Year Headquarters staff, oversee the AmeriCorps grant by leading the site point of contact with the Volunteer Florida, which manages grants for AmeriCorps programs in Florida.
Oversee the site liaisons who partner with City Year by leading reporting and monitoring requirements.
National Network, Site-Wide and Department Leadership National
Site-Wide
Oversee site-based Returning AmeriCorps Member (RACM) Recruitment, collaborating and aligning with Recruitment & Admissions on corps recruitment goals and process. Ensure staff are aware of the RACM strategy and their specific role in executing the site’s plan. Develop RACM plan to augment recruitment efforts to ensure we contribute 20 applications to network.
Lead site efforts to support with AmeriCorps Member and staff recruitment interviews: support staff and AmeriCorps member recruitment by leveraging personal and professional networks, conducting interviews, and making candidate recommendations.
Department
Identify opportunities to strengthen the experience of Impact staff and AmeriCorps members, lead trainings and teambuilding programs to build skills and a sense of community, and actively recognize the accomplishments of Impact staff and AmeriCorps members.
Lead specific site or district initiatives, such as team retreats or safety programs, and represent City Year at district initiative meetings about student engagement and academic success.
Effectively manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, who supervise all department staff and AmeriCorps members. In collaboration with Impact Directors, establish the priorities, activities, and policies which will provide staff with the resources, training, and support needed to achieve their performance goals and remain committed to the Orlando community and City Year.
Directly manage and build relationships with key stakeholders and investors, including senior leaders at DCPS, other non-profit leaders and civic leaders in the community.
Communicate and collaborate with key staff at City Year Headquarters, the Regional Impact leadership team, and Managing Directors of Impact at other City Year sites around model fidelity, best practices, assessments, pilots, resources, feedback, and strategic partnerships.
