HudsonWay Immersion School seeks a collaborative and dedicated Mandarin Immersion Co-Teacher for the elementary program. The co-teacher will work closely with a lead teacher to support a dynamic and engaging dual-language classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be a Mandarin speaker who is passionate about bilingual education and committed to nurturing students’ academic, social-emotional, and language development within the immersion model.
The Co-teacher should understand and commit to the vision of the language immersion model. S/He must possess an excellent command of the language of instruction (Mandarin) to model, instruct, and promote the students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Native-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese (required)
  • Prior experience teaching elementary-aged children (preferred)
  • Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (preferred)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • High level of organization, initiative, and flexibility
  • Willingness to learn and grow through coaching and feedback
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools (preferred)
  • English proficiency sufficient for team collaboration and professional communication
Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Curriculum & Instruction
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan and implement daily lessons aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Share responsibilities for instructional planning, teaching, student assessment, and communication with families.
  • Support the delivery of lessons that integrate language development with content across subjects.
  • Incorporate diverse teaching strategies and social-emotional learning to meet student needs.
  • Classroom & Community
  • Partner with the lead teacher to foster a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom community.
  • Assist in classroom management, promoting high expectations for student behavior and engagement.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families to support student learning and growth.
  • Assessment & Student Support
  • Contribute to student observations and assessments, including monitoring progress toward linguistic benchmarks in Mandarin.
  • Help adapt instruction based on student data and individualized needs.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the implementation of school-wide policies and student conduct expectations.
  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school events.
  • Serve on committees and contribute to school-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Continuously reflect on and improve instructional practices.
