MINIMUM COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be a native speaker of the Mandarin language.
  • Have at least a bachelor’s degree in linguistics, languages, literature, foreign languages teaching, philology, or a related field.
  • Have experience teaching the target language to adult learners.
  • Be knowledgeable of the culture associated with the language or dialect taught.
  • Be proficient in either or both of Canada’s official languages (English or/and French).
  • If the bachelor’s degree is not in linguistics, languages, literature, foreign languages teaching, or philology, have at least 500 hours of experience teaching the target language to adult learners.
  • Be capable of using information & multimedia technology & tools, and mobile devices.
  • Be willing to complete required training.
  • Be located in China or Australia.

  • Provide language-intensive student-centered training to adult professionals using the Communicative Language Teaching Approach.
  • Teach speaking, listening, comprehension, reading, and writing skills, as well as geopolitical, economic, cultural, and social issues, in an interactive immersion-based environment.
  • Adhere to provided training plan (curriculum), program standards, and objectives.
  • Use technology and authentic & appropriate language resources to create a meaningful and varied learning experience.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow teachers.
