Position Purpose
The Hourly Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Supports manufacturing activities pertaining to machining which includes part fixturing, cutting tools and inspection. This role is an interface between M.E. and Fabrication departments. It also includes creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Implement engineering work pertaining to machining processes on the production floor.
  • Create and update SOPs for machining processes.
  • Collaborate with group leads, team leads, and operators to provide relevant solutions to issues that may arise during daily production.
  • Train operators on the floor when needed.
  • Communicate to the production floor the implementation of any new process or change that stems from the M.E. department.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective/ Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
  • Ensure the application of standards in relation to safety, quality, and regulatory entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Nature & Scope
Reports to Manufacturing Engineer Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical certification in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience on the production floor that includes fabrication, welding or machining.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., MS Office).

Job Conditions

  • Both office environment and occasionally manufacturing/factory environment
  • Subject to noise and temperature changes

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs, frequently and/or move up to 35lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to perform continuous, repetitious physical activities. These activities may involve fine movements or large motions
  • Must be able to grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist
  • Must be capable of keeping pace with current production speed
  • Must be able to push/pull with reasonable force
  • Must be able to perform the following requirements of bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in multiple climates including hot/cold temperatures, and dusty environment
