POSITION SUMMARY
This position is accountable for overseeing accounting operations for the Houston Recovery Center. This includes the production of financial reports, oversee the Grant Accountant transactions for accuracy, monitoring of cash management, preparation of annual budgets and assurance of compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory requirements and Contract Compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accounting
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Keep Client Care a top priority during client stay in the facility to include providing compassion, empathy and respect.
- Must be in selfdirected recovery and willing to share experience as appropriate, if applicable to position.
- Effectively support client engagement and progress in recovery.
- Stay in compliance with documentation standards and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision.
- Maintain internal controls for program budget and receipts of revenue.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements.
- Direct the annual audit, with assistance from staff as necessary.
- Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts timely, including bank reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of the financial data
- Payroll entry postings, review and manage 1295 & SEFA
- Analyze financial data and present calculated variances from budget and significant issues to Chief Executive Officer in an accurate and timely manner.
- Manage the production of all annual budget and forecast.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer.
- Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation along with the Chief Executive Officer.
- Work with Chief Executive Officer on upper level financial strategic planning
- Support Human Resource with payroll software implementation and issues
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Contract Compliance
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide clear communication of proper rules and regulations for grants, its specifications, requirements and objectives across all departments of the organization and management.
- Oversee that grants are implemented according to the financial needs of the organization.
- Keep the relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities.
- Provide detailed reports to the funders and the board of directors with respect to the organization’s progress, as requested
- Maintain paperwork and other related documents in connection with grantfunded programs.
- Provide training for the new staff on grants management and reporting requirements.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience with a NonProfit agency preferred
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Advanced accounting knowledge and experience required
- Experience with Federal and State Contracts preferred
- Experience with the Auditing Process
- Knowledge of or aptitude for working with computerized accounting software
- Proficient working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Office365
- Previous management experience, preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required
- Must be able to pass Background check
