Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION – MANUAL MACHINIST

Responsibilities
The position will include, but will not be limited to the following duties:
1) Assisting when required with off-loading and inspection of project materials.
2) Perform a full range of machinist assignments using independent judgement to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work instructions.
3) Studies specifications, drawings and or parts requiring repair / modifications to determine nature and dimension of parts to be fabricated.
4) Selects materials to be machined in accordance with AFL QC practices. Measures, marks or transcribes traceability Code and Material Identifications to material and or remaining stock prior to machining operations.
5) Sets up and operates, lathes, milling machines, Conventional Drill Presses, CNC Drill Presses, band saws, drill grinder and other powered metal-working tools to machine parts to specified dimensions.
6) Uses precision measuring devices such as height gauges, micrometres, vernier calipers and dial indicators to verify conformance of machined parts to drawings and or specifications.
7) Assist with the development of new machining techniques and procedures.
8) Operate shop equipment not limited to; Pipe Threading, Bolt Tightening, hand tools, gas cutting, welding equipment required to support Exchanger and Vessel component fabrication, equipment assembly and final assembly in preparation for testing.
9) Assist as required in routine and preventative maintenance and repair, lubrication and cleaning of machine tools, and equipment.
10) Acquire additional skills and knowledge through internal and external training.
Requirements
1) Minimum 5 years’ experience as a manual Lathe operator.
2) Licensed Machinist preferred or equivalent experience
3) Detailed knowledge of choosing proper parameter of machines and materials.
4) Ability to machine parts within the specification/tolerance.
5) Experience using measuring tools such as callipers.
6) Knowledge of reading blueprints and machining symbols.
7) Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
8) Knowledge and experience using plant machining equipment.
9) Good verbal and written communication skills.
10) 3-month term at which time they would transition to a union Position
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.48-$26.24 per hour
