Job Title: Experienced Manual Machinist (Lathe/Boring/Mill)
Job Type: Full-time, day-shift
Pay Range: $25/hr - 35/hr
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced machinist to join our team. As an experienced machinist, you will be responsible for reading blue prints, indicating parts, and properly machining precision parts within a tolerance (+/-.001). The ideal candidate will have the experience and capabilities to complete precision parts based on the drawings/instruction provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes (including vertical turret lathes), milling machines (including horizontal bars), drill presses, grinders, and other equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining operations and dimensions.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for each job to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators to ensure accuracy of dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform precision machining tasks such as turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, and milling.
  • Monitor machining processes to detect any deviations from specifications and make necessary adjustments.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide input on manufacturing processes and improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the machining process.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical/vocational training in machining is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a manual machinist.
  • Proficient in operating manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Strong understanding of machining techniques, tool selection, and cutting parameters.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working with a variety of materials, including metals, plastics, and composites.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues during the machining process.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
