Manual Machinist duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Technical activities: · Maintain and operate all machine shop equipment. · Maintain accurate work tickets records with drawings. · Work with E-Maintenance (Software) Schedule for all tooling and equipment repairs in the shop. · Work with manufacturing personnel on die design, engineering changes, tooling repairs, and drawings of new tooling. · Inspect tooling and parts machined in-house and by outside fabricators. · Maintain quality level on all machine equipment / maintenance environment. · Maintain ISO work instructions. · Report “near misses/accidents” to the Manager or Supervisor. · Maintain safe and clean working environment throughout the Machine shop area. · Report daily, weekly, activity and problems to the Machine shop manager. · Ensure his/her work environment sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain (with a view to introduce 5S methods) prior to shift change, and guarantee a safety maintenance environment. Communication activities: · Ensure good dialogue within the team. · Provide feedback to the Manager as needed and encourage feedback from the team to him. · Ability to work with other departments. Requirements Manual Machinist skills and competences: Must be able to operate manual Lathe, Bridgeport Mill, Drill Press, and Surface Grinder. Must be proficient in the use of all types of gauges, micrometers, verniers, etc. Chucks, collets, steady rests, etc. Normal hand tools for machinists. Drills, taps, honing equipment, bars, etc. Willing to repair dies or fixtures on the fly on plant floor. Must have a well-rounded knowledge of fabrication and assembly techniques, tools and equipment, materials, and shop equipment. Ability to read mechanical drawings. Must know the working qualities of a wide variety of materials including cast iron, steel, aluminum, copper, brass and other metals and plastics. Must possess good mechanical aptitude in matching operations. Includes appropriate people in the decision-making process. Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Meets productivity standards; Completes work in a timely manner. Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Must be self-motivated. Is consistently at work and on time. Must be willing to work extra hours and weekend if needed. Solve problems step by step thinking through looking beyond obvious solution to a problem and endeavor to find the best solution. Basic computer skills: · With internal software. · With Microsoft pack: Word, Excel. Reading, analysis, and interpretation of common industrial, manufacturing, and technical procedures. Understanding of Manufacturing safety regulations and practices. Education and work experience: · High School Diploma or equivalent · Trade school experience / Vo -Tech · Five years of operating Manual Machines · Valid Driver’s License · Training Matrix Requirements List HR-REF-003 for the minimum training requirement. Re-certification is required when deemed necessary by the direct manager for each job classification.
