This position requires extensive experience in a pump repair shop environment, strong understanding of machining practices, and the ability to work to tight tolerances while maintaining safety and quality standards. RESPONSIBILITY: Principal Accountabilities Set up and operate manual lathes, Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL), and Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM). Machine pump components include shafts, sleeves, wear rings, casings, covers, and related parts to specified tolerances. Perform precision boring operations, including line boring of pump casings and housing (preferred). Interpret mechanical drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine machining processes and tooling requirements. Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments and verify conformance to specifications. Repair, rework, and modify pump components as required during overhaul and repair activities. Work closely with shop mechanics, engineering, and planning personnel to support pump repair operations. Maintain machine tools, fixtures, and tooling in safe working conditions. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of machining areas per 5S standards. Accurately complete job travelers, inspection records, and machining documentation. Assist in troubleshooting machine issues and recommend corrective actions. PROFILE: Experience Years of experience: 8+ Years Knowledge Extensive experience operating manual lathes, VTLs, and horizontal boring mills. Minimum 8+ years of manual machining experience in a pump repair shop environment. Strong understanding of machining tolerances, fits, and surface finishes. Experience in machining large rotating equipment components. Line boring experience is a strong plus. Proficient with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Physical Requirements Prolonged Standing Walking, Kneeling, Bending, twisting Ability to lift 50 lbs Must be willing and able to work OT as needed
