JOB SUMMARY:

United Centrifuge MFG is looking for a permanent, full time Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with large manual lathes.
United is a centrifuge manufacturing and service company located in the Foothills Industrial Park of SE Calgary. The Machinist will report directly to the Shop Manager & President.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

· Experience with manual machines including large manual lathes would be an asset.
· Excellent organizational, multitasking and planning skills
· Pays close attention to detail
· Experience with forklifts, slings, overhead cranes
· Self-motivated and able to prioritize
· Trustworthy & reliable

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Work Location: In perso

• Measuring & machining larger parts (20” + diameter)
• Experience with large manual lathes would be ideal.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
• Measure, examine and test completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to UCMFG’s specifications and tolerances using precision instruments such as micrometers.
• Set up, adjust and operate all the basic machining tools and many specialized tools
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools and materials onto the machine.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings and engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations.
• Select the appropriate tools/fixtures and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment.
  · Assist with preparing quotes for customers
  · Request parts & services for equipment repair.
  · Diligent record keeping
  · Participation in safety program.
  · Other duties as assigned.
