EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Familiarity with tooling, assembly processes, and mechanical systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in reading 2D drawings to be able to produce parts.
  • Quality Control skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and follow safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in the defense or manufacturing industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a full time, on-site role for a Skilled Manual Machinist located in Cwmbran. The Manual Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining a number of manual machines, performing quality control, machining, and milling. Day-to-day tasks involve setting up machines, monitoring their performance, making adjustments as needed, and ensuring high standards of precision and safety in all operations

DUTIES

  • Operate manual mills, and other machining equipment to produce parts according to specifications.
  • Perform diamond polishing operations to achieve precise dimensions and finishes on components.
  • Employ hand tools and power tools effectively for various machining tasks.
  • Maintain tooling and equipment in optimal condition through regular inspections and maintenance.
  • Apply basic mathematical skills to measure, calculate, and verify dimensions of machined parts.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines.
  • Be willing to learn/have experience of how to operate a CNC milling centre.
