POSITION OVERVIEW

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Advanced Technology Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education/experience acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year’s related work experience, etc.).
  • Must be a US Person.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in aerospace structural fabrication/assembly processes and/or air vehicle systems integration.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience designing and fabricating physical prototypes.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as CATIA, Fusion 360, SolidWorks and/or Mastercam.
  • Experience writing in and debugging software languages such as Python, VBA, C, C++, and/or Java.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
  • Adhere to Boeing regulations for lifting.
  • Work onsite in Columbus, MS or Bridgeport, WV
  • Must be able to travel to various domestic 3rd party and/or Boeing/Aurora sites (up to 25% travel). Includes potential extended deployment to customer, supplier, or other Aurora/Boeing sites for critical program activities (Typically no more than 1 month).
Responsibilities
  • Develop, prototype, and test novel manufacturing methods and concepts.
  • Work with production personnel to identify pain points and potential solutions.
  • Design and fabricate physical prototypes of new technologies, for example, instrumentation systems, robots, and end effectors.
  • Design and develop new software systems and concepts, for example, automated scheduling and planning tools, and predictive analytic tools.
  • Work with vendors to implement off the shelf equipment such as machining centers, metrology systems, and composite layup equipment.
  • Build and maintain a working knowledge of state-of-the-art aerospace composite fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
  • Assist production personnel on the shop floor as needed. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
  • Perform limited manufacturing engineering duties on prototype and development programs based on experience and skill set.
