POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented and innovative Manufacturing and Systems Engineer to troubleshoot electronics, optical, mechanical assemblies, establish a continuous improvement initiative with production, application and calibration/repair department including system level test. This is a hybrid role that covers both manufacturing and systems engineering aspects. This position works out of our headquarters in Markham, Ontario and reports to our Engineering Manager. This critical role supports the Acculogic business which is housed in the Electronic Test division of InTest Corporation.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems and/or manufacturing engineering, ideally within electronic testing, PCB manufacturing, or semiconductor industries.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and testing methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA), design for Serviceability (DFS)
  • Proficient in quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills using structured methodologies such as A3 and 8D
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with document management system and version control
  • Experience in technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), Checklists, and Forms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, solution-focused ‘can do’ attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Team player who embraces innovation and operational excellence

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Ability to comprehend and follow complicated electrical schematic, PCB layout would be a bonus
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, or computer vision applications in mechatronics
  • Experience working in Agile or similar project management framework and state-gate NPD process
  • Experience working under a Quality Management System and ISO 9001
  • Familiarity with certification process by regulatory bodies (CE, UL, CSA, TUV)

  • Occasional travel required to customer or supplier sites. <10%

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical lead for systems level design improvement and troubleshooting internally and externally
  • Establish and manage first line of defense on shop floor to troubleshoot day-to-day electronics, optical and mechanical assemblies
  • Provide technical support for all phases of new product development (NPD) projects, Transfer to Manufacturing and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, quality, application engineers and production technicians to resolve the root cause of non-conformance and implement corrective and preventative action
  • Participate in Production Readiness Reviews, evaluate parts, drawings, bill of materials and work instructions for sub-assemblies
  • Develop system level standard work, checklist and reliable methods so that Production Technicians can consistently produce a quality product on time and on budget
  • Operate the Flying Scorpion systems to define, diagnose problems and collect engineering verification and validation data
  • Identify requirements, implement and validate production tools, fixtures/jigs to enhance manufacturing efficiency
  • Document system designs, test plans, and performance metrics and conduct process/cycle time analysis
  • Apply lean manufacturing processes and tools (e.g. 5S, Kanban, Takt time, and Value Stream Mapping) to improve productivity, eliminate waste and drive cost savings.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) by utilizing quality tools such as fishbone/cause-effect diagram, 5-why analysis, 8D/A3 report, pareto charts, and histograms
  • Support Quality Engineer in closing non-conformances, performing internal process audit, inspections and supplier audits to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 and relevant industry regulations
  • Support compliance with electrical safety standards (UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH) and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager and support company objectives and growth initiatives
