Description

Manufacturing Buyer
£30k
Based in Hillington, Glasgow, Coughtrie International, has been manufacturing lighting products for arduous environments since 1940 and has built an enviable reputation producing luminaires that are “British Built to Last”. The company is now one of the few remaining lighting manufacturers in the UK.
Due to the addition of a new sub-contract division, a position has arisen for a dynamic and experienced hands’ on manufacturing buyer covering both of our divisions. In this essential role, you will bring your expertise in materials purchasing and supplier management to ensure timely delivery of components to aid our manufacturing processes.
This new, full-time role requires someone with good knowledge and solid experience of buying electronic components.
Our ideal candidate will possess robust buying experience, a focus on attention to detail, and the ability to work independently whilst making confident decisions. You will have strong organisational and communication skills.
Responsibilities include:
· Supplier Management: Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure continuous supply, quality and service to meet production requirements at a fair price
· BOM understanding: understanding bills of material and sourcing of components specified on drawings
· Flexibility: seeking alternate suppliers/components for items that are either unavailable or on long lead times
· Material Flow: preparing production and/or delivery schedules to meet stock and customer demands. Work with processes such as Kanban to ensure that materials are always available without high stock levels.
· Stock Management: verifying inventory levels
· Teamwork: working closely with all other departments including production
· actively driving suppliers to ensure on-time adherence to Purchase Orders requirements.
· Relationship Management: Be the first point of escalation of all technical and commercial issues with suppliers. For matters beyond your control, perform necessary escalations and co-ordinate with relevant stake-holders to ensure issues are resolved
· Housekeeping: maintain systems, documentation and keeping the workplace clean, efficient and tidy.
· Proactive Management: make recommendations for Supply Chain improvements
· Additional Duties: take on any other tasks assigned by Management.
This role would suit a candidate
· Who is highly analytical and has at least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing purchasing role.
· Who is prepared to be hands on and is not a desk based buyer. We want someone who is prepared to learn the ebb and flow of our business and react to it.
· who possesses excellent ability to work alone and as part of a team
· works well under pressure
· has very good computer literacy
· has a ‘can do’ attitude
· has a right to work in the UK
