Description
Job Purpose: Galaxy Technologies is currently seeking a Manufacturing Buyer. This position is responsible for procuring the raw materials, components, equipment, offload, and production supplies necessary to maintain an uninterrupted manufacturing operation.  Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Execute technical procurement: Translate engineering bills of material (BOMs) and technical requirements into purchase orders for industrial materials. 2. Analyze 2D Blueprint Specifications: Review and interpret 2D engineering blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) markers to verify raw component compliance. 3. Source Industrial Suppliers: Research, interview, and audit vendors capable of supplying specialized manufacturing tooling and raw inputs.  4. Manage Material Continuity: Track material status through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) suggestions to eliminate part shortages and maintain active factory schedules.  5. Negotiate Supply Contracts: Issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and negotiate pricing, lead times, and standard batch requirements with industrial suppliers.  6. Perform Quality Reconciliation: Collaborate with quality control teams to resolve vendor discrepancies regarding flawed components or out-of-tolerance parts.  7. Evaluate Financial Trade-Offs: Conduct standard-cost reviews and run detailed data calculations to advise leadership on "make vs. buy" production scenarios. Qualifications and Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. At least 2 to 4 years of dedicated procurement experience operating specifically inside a precision machining or industrial production facility.  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering; or equivalent in manufacturing or purchasing, preferred.  3. Exceptional attention to physical detail, mechanical aptitude, sharp commercial negotiation strategies, and an ability to make decisions under strict manufacturing deadlines. 4. 2D Print & Schematic Interpretation: Advanced proficiency in reading and parsing industrial 2D drawings, assembly diagrams, and mechanical symbols. 5. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
