SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Controls Engineer II will support automation and control systems in our RFID manufacturing facility. They will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems and automation solutions to optimize production efficiency, quality, and reliability. This is a hands-on position suited for an engineer with proven technical skills and a drive for process improvement in a dynamic manufacturing status environment.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience as a control engineer or application engineer, preferably with RFID, electronics, or precision assembly, including antenna bonding, chip attachment, and in-line testing is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Ethercat).
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous,
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and modify PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs to support production automation and process improvements.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including sensors, actuators, motor drives, HMIs, and vision systems.
  • Monitor and optimize machine performance to ensure high throughput, minimal downtime, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on the implementation of new equipment and control strategies for RFID manufacturing lines, new machines, and system upgrades.
  • Support day-to-day production needs by diagnosing issues, reducing downtime, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Document control system changes and update electrical schematics and software backups.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams focused on quality improvement, process optimization, and yield enhancement.
  • Ensure control systems adhere to internal safety, quality, and ESD compliance requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required, handle, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
