Description

Our client is looking for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their small, collaborative team on the Gold Coast.

This is a genuinely broad, hands-on role. You'll be working closely with the workshop, management, suppliers and clients, supporting day-to-day engineering while progressively taking on more responsibility in technical sales, estimating and continuous improvement as your knowledge of the business grows. A big part of this role will see you learning and eventually driving estimating, quoting and sales for their laser cutting division.

What you'll be doing:

  • Creating and updating 2D/3D CAD drawings in SolidWorks for new and existing sheet metal products
  • Generating CAM programming for our Amada press brake to support fabrication
  • Maintaining accurate BOMs, production drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Assisting with product estimating, quoting and tender responses
  • Liaising with clients and suppliers on technical requirements and pricing
  • Getting hands-on in the workshop to build a solid understanding of our manufacturing processes
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business

What we're looking for:

  • A relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical Engineering) with around 2 years' experience in SolidWorks (2D and 3D)
  • A solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication and weldments
  • Ability to read, interpret and produce engineering and manufacturing drawings
  • Comfortable with rapid changes in daily priorities in a small-business environment
  • Strong communication skills, you'll be dealing with production staff, management, clients and suppliers alike
  • Exposure to CAM programming (e.g. Amada VPSS), stainless steel or medical equipment manufacturing is a bonus but not essential

This is a rare opportunity for an early-career engineer to get real breadth, design, production, and commercial exposure, in a business that will invest in growing your skills across engineering and technical sales. You'll work closely with senior engineering staff and management, with a clear path to take on more ownership as you develop.

  • If you're eager to learn, practical, and want to directly influence how things get built, we'd love to hear from you.
