In this highly visible and hands-on role, you will lead Operations Engineering efforts in the development of extraordinary Thermal modules, for some of the highest quality products in the world today. Your role will involve assembly and testing process development, manufacturing program management and on-site problem solving, for innovative and state-of-art Thermal modules. DESCRIPTION You will apply your mechanical manufacturing background in the following areas: Process Development: • Plan, propose and lead experiments to produce timely and accurate analyses used to drive design, development, and supply chain decisions. • Collaborate with Suppliers and Engineering teams in developing the manufacturing and test processes, including process flows, equipment/fixture designs, implementation schedules and validation/maintenance plans. • Use DOEs, FMEA and other Industry-standard tools to actively identify and address risks and optimize process parameters. • Develop robust processes for failure analysis and drive continuous improvement. New Product Introduction: • Lead multi-functional activities in the supply chain for overall operational readiness in all NPI phases leading into Mass Production. • Drive process development and capability assessment activities, reviewing part design documentation to ensure alignment with process capability. • Lead project technical and operational issues with respect to material, process, fixtures, equipment etc. during the NPI phase, to enable delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process into Mass Production. • Assign specific tasks and work with Apple suppliers to support process development and/or data gathering activities. Set clear goals for results and provide timely reviews of performance throughout program. • Establish validation procedures to determine acceptance of tooling into development builds as well as mass production. Supplier Execution: • Review supplier equipment and fixture design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals. • Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance. • Work with supplier engineering teams to map out process development exercises, secure resources and commit to schedules in line with program goals. • Assess supplier readiness to support build events and production ramp. Identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk. • Evaluate prospective suppliers regarding production capability & quality management. • Lead suppliers by providing technical direction to establish and validate (applying statistical tools) process capability to Apple standards in meeting innovative product designs as well as test and quality requirements. • Establish Quality programs and Manufacturing Process Control Plans for early detection of issues, to ensure the highest level of Quality and Reliability is consistently delivered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 7+ years experience supporting new product launches in a Mechanical Engineering role. BS Mechanical Engineer, MSME , MBA a + Willing and able to travel internationally 30%. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Good understanding of Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Simulations, Modeling and CAD, GD&T, Failure Analysis, DOE, SPC and Statistical Analysis. Experience with manufacturing processes of Graphite, which includes die cut process, working with PSA, calculating and validating thermal conductivity Knowledge or experience in Fans, Heat pipes, vapor chambers, cold plates and Heat fins in portables and desktops is a plus Strong in the statistical analysis using tools like JMP Automation, Engineering management, Program management and experience in Contract Manufacturing (CM) is a plus. Strong project management skills, working in a global matrix organization. Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience working with international OEMs/ CM.
