Description

As an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will work with cross-discipline teams to build robust harness, boards, and other avionics hardware. You’ll focus on the build, testing, and refinement of printed circuit boards (PCBs), conformal coatings, potting, and related avionics hardware processes. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of the systems we send into orbit and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for avionics hardware, including PCB assembly, soldering, staking, coating, and connector installation
  • Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields
  • Collaborate with electrical design engineers and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, DFM/DFA compliance, and long-term reliability
  • Lead qual & test efforts for new coatings, potting compounds, adhesives, and other materials
  • Support environmental and functional testing (vibe, thermal, EMI, etc.) and interface with test engineers on test plans and hardware readiness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related field
  • 2+ years’ of demonstrated manufacturing experience in an aerospace production environment
  • Experience with conformal coating, potting, and staking processes

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of harnessing, soldering or PCB manufacturing/hands-on experience
  • Experience in spaceflight hardware development or a high-reliability electronics environment
  • Familiarity with automated coating/soldering equipment, AOI/X-ray inspection, or PCB fabrication processes
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 Certification (or equivalent)
  • Background in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Experience working in a cleanroom or ESD-controlled environment
