Description
Description Collaboration: Work with customers, internal engineers, quality control, and production teams on new and existing products for prototyping, integration and process changes. Support quick, local quoting process and provide alternative component solutions in an efficient way. Take ownership of assigned tasks or projects and work to ensure on-time, quality deliverables. Design for Manufacturability (DFM)/ Assembly (DFA): Interpret customer documentation and provide feedback. Enhance customer designed cable assembly, wire harness, box build and other products with high performance and low-cost alternative recommendations. After internal review and approval, communicate with customers to gain feedback or approval. Process Documentation & Optimization: Develop, configure, and upgrade internal processes. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs, OMS, etc), process flow diagrams, and technical documentation as required. Create engineering 2D/3D drawings and working instruction (WI or BP) for local production. Design and make assembly fixtures or tools to improve production quality and efficiency. Hands-On Build: Coordinate and active participation in the First Article build, qualification, and support of subsequent builds where required. Responsible for all documentation required for transfer-of-knowledge to customers, local or offshore teams. Where needed, assist or lead training of those teams on the building of the product. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with builds; working with internal team members and customers. Submit change or deviation requests to customer approval, file ECN/DCN at systems and log the changes timely. Inform other teams about the changes in a timely manner. Maintain accurate and timely records are kept throughout the project(s). Maintain clean, organized and compliant personal and build areas. Local, domestic and international travel may be required for training and customer support. Any other tasks assigned by reporting managers. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or higher. Working knowledge of CAD/CAM tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) Familiarity with manufacturing processes, prototype builds, and low-volume production Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced NPI environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills. Accountability, follow-through, initiative, integrity and “excellence in everything you do” are required personality traits. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: Manufacturing Engineer; 3-5 years experience of cable assembly, wire harness manufacturing, or box build. ENTRY LEVEL: Assistant Manufacturing Engineer; 0-3 years experience.
