Description DwyerOmega is seeking an experienced “hands-on” Manufacturing Engineer to be a key team member within the Operations team. Candidate must have a proven track record of engineering support within a manufacturing operations environment and have excellent “hands-on” mechanical and organizational skills. At least 5 years related work experience, with demonstrated experience in the following areas: manufacturing process optimization, project management, LEAN manufacturing practices, and equipment design, justification and procurement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Design, plan, specify, procure, certify, and implement into production; safe, high-quality, cost-effective equipment and processes. Partner with Lean/CI team to develop manufacturing processes and standard work that improve output, reduce defects, improve product quality and reliability. Benchmark best manufacturing practices and assembly techniques. Introduce and implement new and enhanced processes and flows that improve quality, reduce cycle time and cost. Create timing plans and confirm that they meet internal and external targets Lead team meetings to create, track project status, identify risks, actively formulate recovery plans and escalate when required Generate project cost estimates, monitor and track expenditures to budget Coordinate internal or external equipment design reviews, ensuring adequate participation from cross functional departments, identify risks, track countermeasures and resolution. Functional ownership of item routings, work Instructions and process flow documentation. Supports new product development, driving Design for Manufacturing/Assembly objectives. Operations lead on New Production Introductions and Design Changes (ECN/ECR). Create efficient production process to build and ship custom configured products within market lead-time. Reviews drawings, blueprints, sketches, manuals, or sample parts to determine appropriate manufacturing process. Create drawings in SolidWorks or similar. Identify systematic sources of waste and implement multi-site improvements Create/Update information for creation of BOMs/Routings in ERP. Support Quality team on investigation and corrective action for product quality issues. Ability to work in cross functional team environment, influence leadership and drive alignment across the organization (Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain) Requirements Qualifications and Educational Requirements: Minimum 5+ years working experience in manufacturing or process development BS degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Strong project management and leadership skills, sufficient to drive project execution for multiple plants, without direct reports. The ability to leverage plant leadership to ensure project execution Knowledge of machine utilization, process capability, material flow, plant layout strategies Experience with equipment suppliers, following progress and achieving timing commitments Prior experience with assembly, machining, welding, brazing, soldering, automation, controls or robotics preferred Experience leading CAPEX projects ($250k+) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, & SolidWorks or similar CAD design software Proven track record of implementation of lean principles for process improvement and root cause analysis with Lean/Six Sigma Certification a plus (Kaizen, 5why, 5s, 8D) In depth understanding and experience with business systems including cost models, business cases, ROI and make vs buy Ability to travel in support of job function (up to 25%).
