Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate Manufacturing Engineer to join our Electronics Manufacturing Engineering team. This role focuses on process engineering, equipment development, and scaling products from prototype to production. The ideal candidate is highly organized and self-driven, with a strong understanding of mechanical design, design for manufacturability, process development, and quality control. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity — as a Manufacturing Engineer at Joby, you will see your ideas go from concept to reality in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. Responsibilities Drive manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling/fixturing to support both prototype and production builds. Create clear, detailed manufacturing work instructions to ensure process consistency and repeatability. Lead process development efforts using statistical methods, including process capability characterization, gauge R&R, and design of experiments (DOE). Design production workstations with a focus on ergonomics, efficiency, and safety. Collaborate cross-functionally with technical teams to support and optimize manufacturing activities. Design assembly fixturing, tooling, and equipment to enable scalable manufacturing. Identify parts and tools required to meet manufacturing goals in accordance with product specifications, leveraging a broad understanding of workflow concepts, practices, and procedures. Required B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 1+ years of relevant manufacturing or engineering work experience Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piece-part drawings, and fabrication assembly drawings, with experience planning fabrication workflows Ability to provide technical design feedback to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs Strong background in mechanical tooling design with proficiency in GD&T Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software Desired Proficient in authoring process and equipment documentation with strong attention to detail Experience in prototype manufacturing within a professional environment Experience with PFMEAs, standard work instruction development, ergonomic workstation layout, and process specification creation Experience in one or more of the following fields: Electric motor assembly, complex mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, inverter assembly, cooling system assembly, or lithium Ion Battery module/pack assembly Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $70,304 - $111,800/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
