Position Purpose: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and integrating manufacturing systems, equipment, and processes to support production efficiency, product quality, and cost reduction. This role works cross-functionally to support New Product Introduction, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure manufacturability of new designs and processes.  Essential Duties and responsibilities * Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling to support process efficiency and product quality.  * Identify and recommend resolutions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems, equipment failures, or safety issues. * Recommend cost reduction initiatives and manufacturing process improvements.  * Participate in the review and evaluation of product design changes. * Participate in customer-facing meetings to provide engineering updates and manage technical expectations. * Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability; process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products. * Develop, monitor and report on project schedules and establish Standard Operating Procedures for new and updated manufacturing equipment and systems. * Collaborate with quality, production, and engineering teams to troubleshoot production and equipment issues.  * Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring issues.  * Develop manufacturing instructions or procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications. * Responsible for following all Vaupell policies and standard operating procedures and safety practices.   * Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications/Requirements * Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5 + years of thermoplastic or composites related manufacturing engineering experience. Other nonmetallic experience is a plus. * Demonstrated experience working within highly regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., FDA, FAA, ITAR, or ISO 13485/AS9100). * Aerospace industry experience preferred. * Proficiency in interpreting and executing to industry-specific standards, including ASTM and SPI guidelines. * Strong competence in Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and the MRB (Materials Review Board) process, with the ability to provide technical dispositions and develop validated rework procedures for complex components. * Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints, drawings and 3-D models. * Experience initiating and implementing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools required. * CAD (CATIA) proficiency is a plus. * Candidate must be comfortable working hands-on on the manufacturing floor. * Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English. * Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.
