The Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) team, a part of Manufacturing Systems Engineering, is looking for an organized, detail-oriented problem-solver. This team is responsible for the onboarding and maintenance of manufacturing equipment at 10x Genomics, and also supports manufacturing transfer. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, great communication skills, ability to prioritize a variety of tasks, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Our products have allowed researchers to study biology at unprecedented resolution and scale, yielding insights in diverse fields such as cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, and developmental biology.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and have a track record of taking initiative. They should be able to approach challenges with a hands-on and strategic mindset, be flexible in changing direction and methods, manage multiple priorities, and quickly become a key contributor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree/master’s degree in Engineering, Life Science, Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3 years experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment, with a focus on automation and liquid handling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues with industrial and laboratory equipment, specifically Hamilton liquid handlers.
- Experience with liquid class development and peripheral integration for automated liquid handling systems.
- Experience with life science instrumentation and processes.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Strong communication skills: listening, speaking, writing, and interacting
- Proficiency in utilizing data analysis tools, including spreadsheets and specialized software, to drive informed engineering decisions, optimize processes, and report on key performance indicators.
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Detail-oriented with experience driving tasks and meeting deadlines
- Must be flexible, forward-thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independently while balancing a broad range of organizational needs
- Demonstrated skill in problem-solving and the ability to handle operations issues in a fast-paced environment with a customer-focused attitude
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with biological instrumentation, specifically Hamilton liquid handler equipment and their software (e.g., VENUS software).
- Proven track record in developing and validating complex liquid classes and extensive experience in peripheral integration for automated liquid handling workstations.
- Experience capturing and communicating facility requirements for life science equipment
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming (Allen Bradley) is nice to have
- Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting is nice to have
- Mechanical design experience with Solidworks is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of general programming skills (Python)
- Experience with a CMMS.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments (GMP or ISO 13485) a plus.
