Description
Description ABOUT INTERCONNECT WIRING Headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, we build electrical wiring harnesses, specializing in fast turnaround and developmental programs. Founded in 1993, we continue to be a world leader in supplying military aerospace electrical products. Some of our most noteworthy accomplishments include the complete and partial rewiring of military aircraft. We work hard to be an employer of choice and make our working environment safe, comfortable, family-friendly, and fun. In addition to competitive compensation, our employees enjoy Fridays off. The Manufacturing Engineer supports aerospace wiring harness production by directing daily operations, developing engineering documentation, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. This role bridges engineering design, manufacturing support, and project management to ensure compliant, high-quality, on-time delivery across multiple aerospace programs (e.g., F-35, F-22, F-16, C-130, H-1). The ideal candidate combines strong technical design skills (Zuken, AutoCAD, CATIA V5) with leadership ability, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to process excellence. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Planning Develop precise work instructions that enable assemblers to perform electrical wiring products with great accuracy and improve process consistency. Partner with quality and engineering departments to streamline processes, strengthen compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Quality & Compliance Assist in resolving customer complaints and manage Corrective Action Requests (CARs), collaborating with quality departments to investigate issues and implement corrective actions. Analyze and interpret engineering documentation across multiple aerospace programs, ensuring compliance with diverse companies and aircraft specifications. Maintain processes and documentation to comply with AS9100 requirements. Engineering Documentation & Design Review engineering documents (drawings, parts lists, wire lists, process specifications) to compile accurate build-to-packages and identify missing materials from bills of materials. Draft wiring harnesses (e.g., for F-16 aircraft) using Zuken, AutoCAD, and CATIA V5, incorporating visual aids that improve assembler accuracy and production efficiency. Generate harness assembly drawings, harness installation drawings, routing lists, engineering specifications, and bills of material. Perform design verification and validation; specify qualification and acceptance test requirements. Generate and maintain internal documents. Generate, review, and/or approve Engineering Change Notice (ECNs). Create and maintain internal databases for wiring, labeling, and marking requirements to improve traceability and support compliance with manufacturing standards. Manufacturing Support Research and recommend solutions to emergent manufacturing problems. Assist with work traveler and tooling development, including design of in-house tooling when required. Interpret electrical schematics, and fiber optic manufacturing standards. Recommend alternate components, manufacturing methods, and process improvements. Interface with customer and supplier engineering personnel, as necessary. Engineering Administration Administer the InterConnect PDM system. Coordinate and manage internal and external engineering/design projects. Provide support to the estimating group for bids involving engineering design. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or at least 4 years of previous technical related experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency in project management required. Previous aerospace experience is desirable, particularly in wiring harness design and/or routing. Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD systems related to harness design and/or routing. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP, e.g., Syspro) systems is highly desirable. Ability to travel occasionally in support of wiring installations to customer locations in the U.S. and abroad. Work Environment Manufacturing/engineering facility environment supporting aerospace production programs. Occasional domestic and international travel required.
