Summary: Magnum Venus Products (MVP) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with machine shop and CNC expertise to support and modernize our Knoxville machine shop. This role focuses on digital transformation, CAD/CAM, CNC simulation, tooling standardization, and continuous improvement — while leveraging and learning from the decades of expertise within our existing machine shop team. Over time, this role may grow into broader ownership of processes and systems as part of an intentional knowledge transition. Work Description: Process Optimization: Analyze and enhance manufacturing workflows, ensuring efficiency and quality in production for the machine shop. Digital Transformation: Lead the digital transformation of manufacturing processes especially within the machine shop by implementing innovative technologies and data-driven solutions to improve productivity and competitiveness. CAD/CAM Process: Develop and own CAD/CAM process from designed engineered drawings to program for appropriate machine and tooling. CNC Simulation: Develop and own simulation process whereby complicated parts can be verified digitally before physical machining. Machine Programming: Ability to program machines to train personnel. Machine Setup: Ability to run a machine start-to-finish including tooling calibration and material fixturing to be able to train personnel. Ability to develop and own process to minimize setup & downtime. Tooling Development: Develop and program tooling specifically tailored for CNC machining processes within our machine shop, aligning this task with our digital transformation efforts. Tooling and Consumables Standardization: Defining set of tools without unnecessary overlap. Where possible, utilize the same consumables across machine shop. Metrology: Understanding of metrology to be able to include within preventative maintenance, tooling, and quality control. Preventative Maintenance: Developpreventative maintenance plans for machines to maintain accuracy, quality, and reliability. New Product Development: Be a crucial voice in new product development ensuring design for manufacturing is at the forefront of Mechanical Design Engineering development. Continuous Improvement: Lead the Continuous Improvement program for the machine shop, identifying opportunities for process enhancements, complexity reduction, cost reduction, and quality improvement. Productivity Enhancement: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement measures that increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall manufacturing performance. Quality Assurance: Support the maintenance of product quality standards by identifying and addressing manufacturing process issues, collaborating with the Quality team as needed. Equipment Utilization: Ensure efficient utilization of manufacturing equipment and tools, collaborating with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime. Data Analysis: Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, providing valuable insights for decision-making. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures, and drawings in concert with Mechanical Design Engineering. Safety Compliance: Prioritize and adhere to safety protocols and practices in all manufacturing activities, contributing to a safe working environment. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience). Previous experience in manufacturing engineering or related roles. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with manufacturing software and tools. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent computer skills including MS Office Demonstrated ability to automate processes through software and/or programming Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with manual or CNC machines Strong 3D CAD and CAM skills e.g. Autodesk Inventor, Fusion360, Mastercam Experience with CAM simulations Physical Demands: Frequentlylifting, up to 50 lbs.
