Mervin Manufacturing was founded by snowboarders Mike Olson and Pete Saari in 1977. In an industry where virtually every other snowboard, ski, skateboard, and surfboard company has moved production to China or offshore, Mervin is the longest running and last major board building factory in the USA. Based out of Carlsborg, Washington, between the rugged Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges, Mervin is a direct link between riding and manufacturing. Job purpose Drive the evolution of board manufacturing through creative problem solving, process innovation and hands-on engineering. This role partners closely with design and production teams to improve efficiency, quality and durability while helping build the next generation of boards.  Duties and responsibilities * Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex process issues * Diagnose problems and identify short and long-term solutions * Develop and implement methods to systematically evaluate and analyze manufacturing processes/equipment issues and data from failures and creating and implementing recommendations to prevent recurrence. * Work with designers and manufacturing managers to develop a cost-effective and functional production process * Consult with merchandising team on manufacturability of new designs. Offer suggestions and guidance which will benefit all parties mutually * Research build and/or purchase new manufacturing equipment aimed at process improvement. * Coordinate the verification process for all new tooling * Coordinate mold maintenance program with the help of the tool fabricator Qualifications * BS in Engineering or similar technical Bachelor’s degree or 5-10 years technical working experience * Adept use of CAD modeling * Proficient in Microsoft office tools especially Excel * Excellent attention to detail * Exceptional problem solving skills * Must be self-motivated * Excellent communication skills * Excellent hands-on skills Physical requirements * Typical work week is 40+ hours in office as well as on production floor.  * Open office floorplan and casual environment.  * Composites manufacturing facility includes milling of wood, working with epoxy resin systems, fiberglass, carbon fiber, etc. as well as all related finish work. We operate on a 4x10's schedule, Monday through Thursday.  Pay Range: $60,000 to $90,000 depending on qualifications and experience This position is based out of our Sequim manufacturing facility and candidates must live within commuting distance of the factory.
